In nineteen eighty, our founder, Andrew Wielawski, left the United States for Italy to follow his dream of marble carving with no plans of ever returning. At only 24, it was a big step. In the years that followed he dedicated his time to learning every aspect of carving, of fastening, and of how to handle the weight and fragility of stone. Four years later, he opened ARW Studios, and began to employ people to help with fabricating his creations. The area, near marble rich Carrara, was full of people who knew more about stone than in any other place on earth. For forty years, he learned and practiced, and in 2010, finally returned to the US, settling in rural Kentucky. ARW Studios brought in work because it was one of the only places in the midwest where his kind of knowledge could be found. As the demand for forensic stone analysis increased, he formed partnerships with other people throughout the United States who had worked in the stone industry in Italy. As a result, today, ARW Studios LLP has a network of seasoned professionals across the country whose skills and experience fly above and beyond anyone else in the stone business.
